I love this picture, with the central aisle both stretching up towards the altar and also back out into the world. This perfectly captures our own faith journeys- we come to be fed and nourished by all that we share in our beautiful building together, and then we go out to say to others “Come and see!”, as we hear Jesus say in tomorrow’s Gospel. Let’s wonder together how our own transformation calls us to share our experiences of God with others.
Dear parishioners and friends of St. Matthew’s ~
Here I am on another Saturday evening, so looking forward to tomorrow- Sunday, January 8, when we have spiritual formation at 9am, and our service of Holy Eucharist at 10am, and then coffee hour, so please do come and share in this time with us and savor the blessings of gathering together and being fed in Word and Sacrament. Tomorrow we welcome Father Fred Stevenson, who has been a friend and spiritual guide of mine for well over twenty years- long before I could ever have imagined that a call to ordained ministry would shimmer up in my soul. We will all be blessed by his warm, friendly personality and his decades of wisdom and experience.
I am so eager to meet more of you and have a conversation where we get to know each other- please do stop by on my office day (Tuesdays, about 11am to 4:30 or so) or we’ll make an appointment for a time that suits you! On Thursday, January 25, I have a clergy meeting in the area til around noon, and so I’ll be at the church that afternoon as well.
All blessings to you, tonight and always, and know you are always close in my prayers and love. It is a gift to begin this season of life and ministry together.
